2007-04-20: I've posted what I think are the most important solutions to Problem Set 9. It's just about bed time for all of us, so I'm not going to post any more solutions (unless I get frantic e-mail asking for a solution to one of the problems in the next hour or so). Good luck on the exam tomorrow, and I'll see you at 9am.

2007-04-20: I have made a minor correction to the solution to Problem Set 7, question 1d.

2007-04-20: Solutions to the sample final are more-or-less complete, except for question 11, which I will work on later this evening. I'm now going to turn to selected questions from problem set 9. Please e-mail me if there are any questions in particular you'd like me to prioritize.

2007-04-12: Quiz 4 has been marked and will be available in the math department office starting at 10 am Friday morning. Please bring a piece of ID to Suzie Monroe and she'll give you your quiz and any other work you haven't yet picked up.

2007-03-27: There has been a small correction to Problem Set 5, question 6, as per the discussion in today's lecture, and also a minor wording clarification to question 3. Solutions to Problem Sets 4 and 5 are forthcoming.

2007-03-26: Midterm Test 2 will take place on Thursday, March 29, and will cover chapters 2 and 3, in particular optimization. You will will not have to graph a function on this midterm, but you should know how to find important points such as stationary points and inflection points. Exponential functions will not be covered on the midterm, but will be covered on Quiz 4, which I would like to move to April 10. Please e-mail me any comments you may have.

2007-03-22: Problem Set 5 has now been posted.

2007-03-22: Solutions to Problem Set 6 are now complete.

2007-03-19: My efforts to post solutions to PS6, and send the quiz to the printer for Tuesday, have been in vain because the final exams need to be set by Wednesday morning. Therefore I would like to postpone the quiz yet again, from Tuesday to Thursday, March 22. The second midterm is still slated for Thursday, March 29. Sorry for all these changes; it's taking me longer than expected to get back on track.

2007-03-16: I've posted Problem Set 6 for sections 3.1 and 3.2. Some of those problems will appear on quiz 3 on Tuesday, March 20. Problems Set 5 will appear later this weekend, along with solutions to Problem Set 6. I would like to postpone Midterm Test 2 by one week to Thursday, March 29; on it I would like to include material from problem sets 4, 5, 6, and possibly 7 (exponential functions). Please e-mail any comments or suggestions you might have.

2007-03-14: I'm sorry for my extended absence from the university. My father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 2, and I had to take some time off. I'm back now, and I'd like to get this course back on track as quickly as possible. I'll have two problem sets posted in the next 24 hours, solutions this weekend, and a quiz with one problem from each problem set for next Tuesday, if that's OK with everyone. We can discuss during Thursday's class.
