2006-04-20: I'm going to work on solutions to sample final 2 throughout the evening. Check below for a link to the solutions, and reload occasionally to see updates. I may or may not be able to do it all, but I will concentrate on the less familiar material.
2006-04-20: An error in the solutions to problem set 11, question 5(c), has been fixed.

2006-04-12: I have updated the course syllabus to reflect the material we actually did cover in the course. The final syllabus should give you a rough idea of what may appear on the final exam. A more detailed idea of the problems that may appear on the final exam can be found in the suggested problems section of the problem sets.

2006-04-11: I have updated the grade statistics with grades from Quiz 4. Average for the term is 71%.

2006-03-29: I have finalized problem set 8 and completed the draft solutions to problem set 8. Question 3(b) in problem set 8 has changed.
2006-03-28: I have updated the course statistics with data from midterm test 2. The average on test 2 was over 67%; most students did better on test 2 than they did on test 1, and the vast majority of students were at least able to attempt each question. Consequently I won't be adjusting the test 2 grades.
2006-03-28: Draft solutions to problem set 9 are available. I haven't checked them carefully. Please let me know if you find an error.

2006-03-14: I have updated the statistics for the course with information from midterm test 1 and quiz 3.
2006-03-13: Draft solutions to problem set 8 are now available. I have only solved the problems or portions of problems that may appear on midterm test 2, which will cover material only through chapter 2.8 (not 2.9).

2006-02-14: I have finalized the sample midterm and included answers (but not justifications). I have also corrected question 5 on the sample midterm.
2006-02-13: I have made corrections to the solutions to problem set 4, answers 4(a) and 5(a), and problem set 5, answers 1(a) and 3(b). Please let me know if you find any other errors in my solutions. I would like to finalize them soon and it helps me a great deal if someone else checks them for me. I have also made a correction to the sample midterm, problems 1(a) and 1(c).
2006-02-12: I have posted a draft sample test for midterm 1. Please try it under timed conditions and let me know whether you think it is too long.

2006-02-06: I have posted a file with statistics from the course evaluations to the resources section. I expect the distribution to become more normal after the midterm is incorporated into the stats. The first midterm will take place Wednesday, February 15, 2006, during the regular class hour, and will be 50 minutes long. The midterm will cover the material we have studied in chapter 1 (1.1 through 1.9 with the exception of economic models and networks in chapter 1.6).

2006-01-06: The textbook for the course will be David C. Lay, Linear Algebra and its Applications, third edition. The book is available now in the bookstore. Sorry for the confusion.
